Toxic Trail was broadcast on BBC World as part of a weekly series called 'Earth Reports' which is produced by the Television Trust for the Environment (TVE).  Collaborating in the production was the Programme for Community IPM in Asia, a project of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) funded by the Governments of Australia and Norway.

On this page you can find out more about TVE, the Community IPM Programme and other organisations involved in the production of Toxic Trail.

The Television Trust for the Environment (TVE)

TVE is an independent, non-profit organisation, with a mission to act as a catalyst for the production and distribution of films on environment, development, health and human rights issues.  Part of the work of TVE is the production of 'Earth Reports', a weekly series of documentaries shown on BBC World.  Janet Boston was the TVE producer who traveled to Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia to make the Toxic Trail programmes as part of the Earth Reports.

Programme for Community IPM in Asia

In the last two decades the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations has taken a leading role in developing and supporting training which helps farmers to learn about the ecology of their fields and, as a result, enables them to make and implement decisions which are safe, productive and sustainable. Russ Dilts, the Regional IPM Coordinator of FAO, traveled along the Toxic Trail with the TVE film crew to introduce a range of issues.

Pesticide Action Network, Asia and Pacific

PAN Asia and the Pacific is one of the regional centres of PAN International - a global coalition of citizen's groups and individuals who are working to promote sustainable agriculture, and oppose the use of pesticides. The Toxic Trail documentary includes an interview with Sarogeni Rengam, the PAN Regional Director.

Thai Education Foundation (TEF)

TEF has played a key role over the last five years in the development of programmes in Thailand which use discovery-based learning to help children and adults understand ecological concepts.  TEF arranged many of the field visits and interviews which took place in Thailand during the making of Toxic Trail.
